Grades K–2Ages 5–8 · Unit 1.1 · What Is Money?
Every coin has a value: a free coin worksheet for K–2.
A child can count to a hundred long before they can tell you why a dime beats a nickel. This one-page sheet asks for the value of each coin in cents, then which is worth the most, then a drawn dollar bill — three small questions that between them separate size from worth.
No account. No email. Nothing collected about your child.
What is on the page
- Four coins to label in cents — penny, nickel, dime, quarter
- Color the coin that is worth the most
- A draw-your-own box for a $1 bill
- An answer page, with an extra challenge for anyone who finishes early
What it teaches
- What each US coin is worth
- That a coin's size does not tell you its value
- That different coins can add up to the same amount
How to run it
The dime is the whole lesson. It is smaller than a nickel and worth twice as much, and almost every child guesses wrong the first time. Let them guess before you correct it — the surprise is what makes it stick.
