03 — Write your own

A free lesson plan template.

The same format as our lessons, ready for one of yours: learning target, materials, the five-step lesson flow, differentiation, reflection and a take-home question. Type into the Word version or print it and write by hand. A filled-in example comes with it.

Lessons you write with it are yours.

04 — Before you ask

The questions we actually get.

Short answers. Anything missing? Email info@wealthwisekids.org.

Are these lesson plans really free?

Yes. No account, no email, no trial. Each lesson is a complete PDF you can download and teach.

What's in each lesson?

A teacher plan in the format most schools use (learning target, materials, warm-up, I do, we do, you do, check for understanding), student pages ready to copy, an answer key, ideas for students who need support or more challenge, and a letter home to families.

Is there a template for writing my own lessons?

Yes. The free lesson plan template uses the same format as our lessons and comes as a Word file you can edit in Word or Google Docs, plus a printable PDF, with a filled-in example.

Can I change them for my class?

Yes. You're free to copy and adapt them for your own classroom, program or family. Please don't resell or rebrand them, and keep the WealthWise Kids credit on the pages.

Do I need a finance background to teach them?

No. The facts and the math are in the plan, and the teacher talk is written out. Our free guide, How to Teach Financial Literacy, covers the rest.

Do they work outside a classroom?

Yes. Each plan has notes for after-school programs, mixed ages, and rooms without a printer.

Is there more after Lesson 1?

Each free lesson is the first of a connected year in Financial Foundations™, our K–12 curriculum. You don't need it to teach these.
